Samsung foldable phone may have been revealed in companys promo video
Highlights: Promo video shows the foldable phone from Samsung There appears to be no front facing camera It sports a fingerprint scanner on the back Samsung may have just given the world the first look at its foldable smartphone. Samsung Vietnam’s YouTube page apparently uploaded and promptly removed a promo video that shows off the foldable smartphone being used in various scenes. A YouTuber managed to get a hold of the video before Samsung Vietnam could take it down and we promptly made screen grabs of the video to show you what we can expect. We have tried to enhance the screen grabs to show as much detail about the phone as possible, which has led to, in some cases, the image not having the best quality. But bear with us on that. Samsung is going to officially reveal the foldable smartphone at its Unpacked event on February 20. The top seems to be considerably slimmer than the bottom The image above first shows that the phone opens like a book and the top half is considerably slimmer than the bottom half. Samsung’s foldable phone will still be a dual-screen phone, with an outer screen and an inner, tablet-sized display. According to XDA Developers who attended the Samsung Developer Conference, the following could be the specs of the upcoming phone at the forum. Cover Display Resolution: 840×1960 Screen density: 420dpi Smallest screen width: 320dp Screen size: normal Main Display Resolution: 1536×2152 Screen density: 420dpi Smallest screen width: 585dp Screen size: large Another scenario shown in the video is of an expecting mother making an ultrasound scan all by herself using an accessory attached to the phone. The camera pans around to reveal the back of the phone. Here, we see three cameras on the back arranged horizontally, but we also see a fingerprint scanner here. The use of a fingerprint scanner would make sense, given that the front facing display of the phone appears to be rather slim, meaning that it may not have had enough space to put an under-display fingerprint sensor here. Closeup of the screen reveals a missing front-facing camera Backside of the phone seems to have 3 cameras and a fingerprint reader While the rear seems to sport three cameras, what appears to be missing is a front-facing camera. This would again make sense as Samsung could expect users to open the phone all the way, allowing the rear cameras and the cover display to be on the same plane. This would mean that the quality of selfies would become far superior to what we see today since rear cameras tend to offer better image quality than front-facing cameras. Additionally, this could also allow people to shoot images with different perspectives, given that you now have three lenses looking at you. The video is no longer posted on any Samsung official channel and is currently only being hosted as an unlisted video by an unknown individual.
